A quiet base in Frutillar, five minutes from the waterfront and Teatro del Lago. Here is how long each place takes and how to plan your route.

Ave Lodge is in Frutillar, at km 4.8 of the Punta Larga road, between forest and countryside, with views of Lake Llanquihue and the volcanoes. We are 5 minutes from the waterfront and Teatro del Lago, and 25 from Puerto Varas.

It is a good base for exploring the Lake Llanquihue basin and coming back to rest in a quiet place. Here is how long each place takes and how to plan your route.

Two routes to plan your trip

Use them as a starting point and adjust the days to your pace and the season.

3 days: Frutillar, Puerto Varas and Petrohué

Day 1 · Frutillar: the waterfront, the German Colonial Museum and Frutillar Bajo. If there is a show at Teatro del Lago, when you book direct we drive you there and back at no extra charge.
Day 2 · Puerto Varas (25 min): stroll through town, lunch, then back to rest.
Day 3 · Ensenada and Petrohué Falls (1 h 15): leave early; afterwards head to the airport (45 min from Ave Lodge) or back to the lodge.

5 days: add Puerto Octay and a free day

Days 1 to 3: same as the 3-day route.
Day 4 · Puerto Octay (40 min): the town and a walk by the lake.
Day 5 · Rest at the lodge: hot tub, massages, yoga or bikes, all extras to your stay. Or a long day to Cochamó (1 h 52 each way) if you want nature and hot springs.

Opening hours, tickets and conditions are set by each attraction, so confirm them before you go. In summer, book ahead, especially during the Semanas Musicales season.

When another base makes sense

If your trip focuses for several days on Cochamó or Puelo (1 h 52 and 2 h 36 from Ave Lodge) or on Chiloé (2 h 08 to Ancud), it may be more comfortable to stay closer to those places. If Lake Llanquihue is your focus, Frutillar is a very good base: quiet, with a view, and minutes from the Frutillar waterfront and Puerto Varas.
